I've got 5 minutes...

I kept saying I wanted Boston to reach the next stage as quickly as possible but now I understand why people said "oh, enjoy this one. The next stage will be tougher".  Rarely do we get a good nap and he just wants to go go go. Even though it is a tiring stage for mom it's been fun to watch Boston grow!

In mentioning short naps..I have probably 15 minutes (or less) while he is asleep in his swing! So, here's the guiness book of world records for "quickest blog".

Boston's accomplishments over the past month:
1.   Beefed up to a heavy 11 pounds 12 ounces!
2.   Became quite the jabber jaws!  Boston has really starting talking.  Especially to Dad. Oh how Joe can make him laugh!  It must be a guy thing- like men in their garages, working on their cars, farting...I guess I'll never understand!
2.   Discovered his strong hands and grabs everything (including Mom's hair and Diesel's ears-OUCH)!
3.   Possibly teething because he constantly wants something in his mouth and oh how the drool has started!
4.   Starting to recognize his feet. He kicks and kicks. He splashed his feet in the bathtub and drenched my mom!
5.  He's recognizing his brother and sister, Diesel and Mia.  He constantly wants to chase them. I have to put him on the floor and let him walk all around the house after them. Oh and he laughs constantly at Diesel.  The other day Diesel was doing tricks for us.  When he jumped Boston giggled every time. Poor Diesel. I think I made him jump 20 times in a row just to entertain us!  p.s. Diesel did get lots of cookies for all of his hard work!
6.   Last but not least, on March 17, 2010 Julie watched Boston sit up on his own!  Boston was laying on an incline under his play mat when he decided he had had enough and wanted up.  He leaned forward and brought himself up over his feet.  With his back rounded over, his hands touching the ground he sat like this for 10 minutes! When Joe and I got home from work Boston showed us his neat trick!

It has been a very exciting month. To think Boston's corrected age is only 3 months, real age almost 6 months and he is doing all of these things.  It's been so fun to watch him accomplish new feats and see his personality come alive!  He is such a healthy and happy boy! We continue to be blessed.

He LOVES this thing. He laughs at it and talks to it!

Got it!

My favorite book! Oh so Yummy!

Yeah, as you guessed I did NOT get this blog done in 15 minutes.  But I saved most of the writing until AFTER the pictures.  You do not need to read on.  I am using this blog as my journal so I wanted to write a few things down so as not to forget.

Journal entries for me:

Boston is buiding his neck muscles pretty well.  He is holding his head up much better.  In fact, on March 9, 2010 I decided we could break out the Baby Bjorn Active Carrier and see how he would do in it.  He LOVED it.  Being able to face outwards and stare at everything! In the bathroom, we stand in front of the mirror.  I lean forward just slightly and say "Fly, Boston, Fly!"  I zoom left and right and he just starts giggling.

Oh and speaking of mirrors.  One of his favorite things is to stare at himself in the mirror.  He gets the biggest grin on his face and talks up a storm to the baby in the mirror.  He also wants you to stand him on the counter and he walks up to himself.

Boston wants to walk and walk and walk.  With your support of his torso he has been walking since 4 months old.  I'm afraid he won't crawl first.  If he could have it his way he would walk all day long. He is definitely Joe's son.  Joe was standing by himself at 6 months and walking by 8. Ah oh.  We are in for trouble.

On March 14, 2010 I stood Boston up to the seat of a toddler rocking chair.  Dumb me didn't think...rocking chairs slide.  The chair started to slide backwards.  I reached out to grab Boston thinking he was going to face plant when the smart little kid...picked up his feet and just walked with it.  Joe and I both looked at each other like...did that really happen?  So, we thought we had better test Boston and see if he could do it again. And sure enough...when he wanted to...he would walk with it.

Boston's favorite things:
Favorite toys:  Baby Einstein Turtle that plays music and a Sassy plastic Look Book that he chews on.
Favorite songs: He loves when I sing "Three Little Birds" by Bob Marley.  Who knew, mom isn't into reggae but somehow she knew the words and tune to this song!  He also loves when I give him kisses from his stuffed Tigger and sing "the most wonderful thing about Tiggers...Woo hoo hoo hoo! Oh, and most importantly...he gets so excited when mom and dad sing the University of Utah fight song!

Another wonderful month

As I sit down to write this post, I have to pause every 30 seconds to glance over at Boston who is a squirming on the playmat next to me.  Boy...to think exactly 4 months ago today our baby boy made his hasty entrance.  And to look at him now, a thrashing 9 pounds 10 ounces...what a miracle child.

Then

Now

In reading up on preemies, my mom, Julie and I have been in tune with every little thing Boston does to see if he is growing and progressing like he should.  His "corrected age" (based on his original due date of December 5th) is almost 2 months old.  Based on this Boston is cruising right along!

Boston is cooing and smiling. Is there a better feeling than hearing your baby squeal in delight or look down at them to see them grinning back at you?
For the longest time I was pessimistic that the smiles were real but when they started to stretch from ear to ear... I believe now that gas is excluded.
And boy do the smiles help with those crazy hour feeds in the middle of the night when you want to....well you know...but then you look down and there's this big grin put on just for you! Even Joe, who could NOT do without sleep and dreaded those feeds, finds a smile growing on his face when Boston puts on a show!

 Dad making him laugh!

I was landing a bumble bee on his belly...it made him laugh every time!

Another bumble bee bzzzzz'ing on me!

And if those developments weren't enough just a few weeks ago Boston discovered his hands.  I had no idea a baby starts to suck their thumb this early.  And boy does it taste good to him!  At first I was so excited for this new stage but, after two nights of him making sucking noises all night....not so much. I'm trying to trade him his fingers for a binky but, to no avail.

Grandma caught me in the act!

And last but not least, just Monday Boston did something astounding! He was having playtime on the jungle mat.  When he gets tired and wants off the mat he starts trying to lift his head up off the pillow letting me know he's done.  So I took his hands in mine and lifted him to a sitting position (my mom has been doing this with him for a while). He thinks sitting up is so awesome.  We call him Stevie Wonder because in this sitting position his head bobs and weaves just like Stevie's. Anyways, sorry....when I pulled him to the sitting position, next thing I knew he rocketed himself up and STOOD! "What...What are you doing? This is not possible" I thought.  Thinking it was just a fluke I laid him back down and said, "Let's see if you can do that again."  So he reached his head forward, I pulled his little arms and helped him to a sitting position...and then sure enough...he brought his feet underneath his bum and shot himself up.  No help from me.  Wow!  That night I couldn't WAIT for Joe to get home.  As soon as he walked in I said to Boston, "Let's see if you can show Daddy your trick." Sure enough he did!

Now the bad thing about this is, I can't even play Row Row Row Your Boat with him because as soon as I grab his arms he thinks it is time to stand up.  What a stinker!
But how amazing, huh?

Boston has his 4 month checkup on Tuesday, January 26th. I can't wait to see what the doctor thinks about this little dude:
(sorry for so many pictures, but it HAS been a month since I last blogged!

Truth revealed, Boston isn't ALWAYS happy!

Side note:  Joe and I must say though, Boston is a really happy kid.
He rarely cries unless it's time to eat or he needs his diaper changed. We are lucky!

I couldn't wait to get this shirt on him. It was still a little bit big but not too big for pictures!
Thanks cousin Natalie!

My brother Scott was FINALLY healthy and able to see Boston!

What a wonderful christmas we had!

As Christmas approached Joe and I weren't sure what we were going to do.  Doctor's orders were to keep Boston at home away from large groups of people and especially away from children.  A common cold if given to Boston could develop into RSV.

We were prepared to miss our family parties on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but not without sadness.  Joe's sister, brother-in-law, and his two nieces were in town from California.  One of the nieces, Jessica was born 19 days after Boston and we hadn't had a chance to meet her yet.  Nor had Joe's sister had a chance to meet Boston.  Also, my sister, brother-in-law, and my niece and nephew were in town from Arizona. My sister came to visit me in the hospital but had to head back to Arizona the DAY before Boston decided to come.

Joe and I so badly wanted to figure out a way to to see our families and let our sisters see Boston.
But how?

Well da da da da, once again moms to the rescue.

Joe's family was willing to move their entire Christmas Day to the 23rd. Special thanks to them.
My mom and dad watched Boss while we enjoyed a wonderful dinner and then hours of opening presents. We were spoiled!
Then on Christmas Day Joe's parents came and watched our boy while we celebrated with my family.  We made it in time for lots of bacon and presents. Again, we were too spoiled!

Thank you everyone for being so giving and allowing us to be a part of the christmas celebrations! We can't wait for next year when we are finally able to include Boston!

Please enjoy some pictures taken over the holidays:

Santa visited Boston!
